Pair FMote with your TV
- Same Wi-Fi. Connect your iPhone to the same Wi-Fi network as your TV, and make sure the TV is on.
- Allow Local Network. Open FMote and tap Allow when iOS asks to find devices on your local network. FMote needs this to see your TV.
- Pick your TV. FMote lists the TVs it finds. Tap yours. Not listed? Use Enter IP address (see below).
- Type the code. Your TV shows a 4-digit code. Type it in FMote. That's it: FMote remembers the TV, so you only do this once.
No developer mode, no account and nothing to install on the TV. If you close the first screen with ✕, you can look around the app first and add your TV later from the TVs tab.
If FMote can't find or reach your TV
FMote doesn't find my TV
- Local Network is allowed: iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → FMote on. Without it FMote cannot see anything on your Wi-Fi.
- Same network, not a guest network: guest and "isolated" Wi-Fi networks block devices from seeing each other. Dual-band routers are fine as long as both are the same network.
- VPN paused: a VPN on the iPhone can hide your TV. Pause it while you use FMote.
- TV awake: a TV in deep sleep may not answer. Press Home on the TV's own remote, then tap Search again.
- Connect by IP address: on the TV open Settings → My Fire TV → About → Network, note the IP address (for example
192.168.1.23), then in FMote choose Enter IP address.
The code doesn't work, or the TV stopped showing codes
Check that you typed the code shown on the TV you picked; tap Show code again for a fresh one. After several wrong codes the TV pauses pairing for about 10 minutes; wait, then try again.
It worked yesterday, now it says Offline or Reconnecting
Usually the TV is asleep, the iPhone switched networks, or the TV got a new address from the router. Wake the TV, check the Wi-Fi, and tap Retry. If the TV's address changed, FMote finds it again on the next search. As a last resort, in the TVs tab choose Forget on that TV and pair it again.
Volume or power keys do nothing
Volume, mute and power go from your streaming device to the TV or sound system over HDMI-CEC. Turn on HDMI-CEC in your TV's settings (TV makers often give it their own name; look under HDMI or external devices). Some TVs don't accept volume from apps at all; FMote tells you when that happens, and the TV's own remote still works.
Buttons feel slow or are missed
Try FMote → Settings → Connection → Tap mode → Press & release. A strong Wi-Fi signal near the TV also helps.
Voice, keyboard, Apple Watch and widgets
Voice doesn't start
Allow the microphone: iPhone Settings → FMote → Microphone. The TV must be awake and connected. Your voice goes only to your TV while you speak; FMote doesn't record or store it. Voice may be an FMote Pro feature (marked PRO in the app).
The keyboard doesn't type on the TV
Open a search box or text field on the TV first, then use FMote's keyboard. The text appears on the TV as you type.
Apple Watch
Pair your TV in FMote on your iPhone first. The Watch app sends each press through your iPhone, so keep the iPhone nearby with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi on. Turn the Digital Crown for volume. If the Watch says "Open FMote on your iPhone", open the iPhone app once and try again. The Watch app installs from the Watch app on your iPhone (My Watch → Available Apps) if it isn't there yet.
Widgets, Control Center, Action button and Siri
Add widgets by touching and holding the Home Screen or Lock Screen, then tapping Edit → Add Widget → FMote. On iOS 18 add TV Play/Pause, TV Home, TV Mute or Open Remote in Control Center, or pick Open Remote for the Action button (Settings → Action Button → Controls). Siri: try "Pause the TV with FMote". All of them need a TV paired in the iPhone app and Local Network allowed. If a widget says "Pair a TV in FMote", open the app and connect once.
FMote Pro and subscriptions
What does FMote Pro include?
The remote itself is free: the D-pad, swipe pad, keys, volume, apps, keyboard, TVs and settings never need a subscription. FMote Pro unlocks the features marked PRO in the app, such as Voice, the Apple Watch remote, widgets, Control Center controls and Siri Shortcuts, and Pro stays ad-free, always. Plans: weekly, monthly or yearly; the price in your currency is shown in the app before you buy.
Manage or cancel a subscription
On your iPhone open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → FMote. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancelling keeps Pro until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Restore a purchase (new iPhone, reinstall)
Open the FMote Pro screen and tap Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account you used to subscribe.
Refunds
Payments are handled by Apple, so refunds are too. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

E-mail [email protected]. It helps to include your iPhone model, iOS version, FMote version (Settings → About) and what the TV was doing. You can also use Send feedback in FMote's Settings, which fills these in for you.
